Katherina Reiche

Katherina Reiche has a degree in chemistry and was a member of the German Bundestag for 18 years, including 7 years on the German Federal Cabinet. She has three children.

From 1998 to 2015 she was a member of the German Bundestag, from 2005 to 2009 deputy chair of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group, responsible for education and research policy as well as for the environment, nature conservation and reactor safety. From 2009 to 2013 Katherina Reiche was Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety, and from 2013 to 2015 Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister of Transport and Digital Infrastructure.

From 2015 to 2019, she was Chief Executive Officer of the German Association of Municipal Enterprises (VKU). Since January 1, 2020 Katherina Reiche has been Chairwoman of the Board of Westenergie AG. Katherina Reiche has been a honorary member of the German Council for Sustainable Development since November 2016 and was reappointed to the Sustainability Council in 2019. Since June 2020 she has been chairwoman of the National Hydrogen Council (Nationaler Wasserstoffrat) of the BMWi.
