Verena Graichen
Verena Graichen is Vice Chair of Friends of the Earth Germany (Bund für Umwelt- und Naturschutz Deutschland, BUND), Chairwoman of its Berlin branch and was Spokeswoman for the International Environmental Conservation Working Group (Arbeitskreis Internationale Umweltpolitik). She advocates for continual climate protection and sees green hydrogen as an important building block for achieving climate neutrality. Graichen is an expert in energy and climate policy and works as a Senior Researcher at the Institute for Applied Ecology (Oeko-Institut). In conjunction with the McCloy Fellowship Programme and projects for the European Commission, she participated in study trips to the US and China that were centred around emissions trading. She received her degree from the University of Potsdam, and during her studies she worked in Ecuador with the German Association for Technical Cooperation (Deutsche Gesellschaft für technische Zusammenarbeit) in the programme for decentralisation, modernisation and urban development.
