The task of the National Hydrogen Council is to advise and support the German government in the implementation and further development of Germany’s National Hydrogen Strategy. To this end, it drafts position papers on proposed legislation and similar, laying out the requirements and recommendations to politicians.
To meet the general need for information on hydrogen, the German National Hydrogen Council also addresses issues that have not yet been settled or finalised. In the accompanying information and white papers, the NWR presents facts and correlations and drafts investigative reports for policymakers.

The German National Hydrogen Council draws on recent scientific studies as well as the industry knowledge and positions of its members when preparing its statements and position papers. Where necessary, the German National Hydrogen Council commissions brief studies on specific issues.
