Dr. Stefan Spindler studied mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Munich where, in 1992, he also obtained his doctorate in internal combustion engine technology alongside his work as a research and development engineer at MTU Motoren- und Turbinen-Union Friedrichshafen. From 1992 to 1999, he was responsible for application engineering and After Sales at MTU.
From 2000 to 2010, Dr. Spindler held positions as product area manager at Liebherr Machines in Bulle, Switzerland, and as a member of the executive board at MAN Diesel & Turbo in Augsburg. The development of energy-efficient and low-emission drive systems for industrial applications was a consistent focus of his work.
In mid-2010, Dr. Stefan Spindler was appointed as a member of the executive board of Bosch Rexroth AG. He first led the Renewable Energies business unit with a focus on wind power applications and, from 2012 the Mobile Applications business unit, which included vehicle drive and control products. In May 2015, Dr. Stefan Spindler assumed the position of CEO Industrial in the Schaeffler Group. Products from Schaeffler make a significant contribution to a sustainable energy transition. In addition to its strong market position as a supplier to the wind power industry, the development of innovative components and systems for electromobility as well as for hydrogen deserve special mention.
Implementing the ambitious goals of the national hydrogen strategy will require scaling up components based on high-quality material and coating technology in conjunction with proven manufacturing technology. Schaeffler would like to actively support this pioneering development.
